Directly across the street is popular PJ's - a gas station up front and a big delightful restaurant in the back (large menu and breakfast all day). Walk down tree-shaded West Street to the heart of Southport's historic district - just follow the giant blue water tower. A quiet fishing village of lovingly maintained craftsman-style cottages interspersed with Victorian manses, it has been consistently named a top place to retire. Wander the Riverwalk to the Waterfront Park, stop at The Gallery, lunch at an outside cafe, browse the antique/collectible shops and galleries and don't miss the N.C. Maritime Museum at Southport.
