Marina Grille has both a cozy, tableclothed dining room and canopied patio overlooking the Harbor. Longwood's Belle Mer offers six exquisite function spaces totalling 14,000 square feet on six acres at the edge of the bay (Cruise committees take note). Goat Island's diverse history belies the tranquility of its current incarnation. In 1702, Fort Anne was the first of five that protected Newport Harbor. Later pirates were captured, hanged and 26 buried here. In the 1900s, all torpedos for both World Wars were manufactured on G.I.. Still active, Goat Island Light, first built on the site of the Hyatt in 1837, welcomes visitors.|
